Internship Description
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is an executive agency that oversees the U.S. wholesale natural gas and electricity markets. In addition to monitoring the activity within these markets, FERC analyzes proposals to build liquefied natural gas terminals and interstate natural gas pipelines, licenses hydropower projects, and addresses issues related to grid modernization and a smarter grid.
This paid internship will be in the FERC’s Document Operation -- Records Management Division, within the Office of the Secretary (OSEC). OSEC serves as the official portal through which the Commission records all legal filings and notices of proceedings related to Commission actions, and all official actions of the Commission. OSEC’s Records Management Division is responsible for managing and maintaining all official agency records consistent with Federal laws and regulations. OSEC is looking for a Management Analysis intern who is interested in learning more about how FERC processes applications filed by the entities it regulates and issues decisions vital for ensuring a safe and reliable energy future.

Internship Responsibilities
Intern selected for this position will:
- Assist the Records Management staff as they conduct a review of the agency’s records management program, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and policy. Tasks include helping to evaluate deficiencies in the Commission’s records management, designing procedures to mitigate risks, and developing training for FERC staff.
- Assist the OSEC Agenda and Notice groups in the publishing of orders, rules, and regulations; and issuance of public notices of filings and other notices issued by the Commission.
