Assistant Professor of Adult and Lifelong Learning - Counseling, Leadership, and Research Methods

Summary of Job Duties:

The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Professor of Adult and Lifelong Learning 9-month, tenure-track assistant professor of adult and lifelong learning position include: teaching graduate courses in adult and lifelong learning and community college leadership; conducting research that results in refereed publications and professional presentations; pursuing external funding; chairing/serving on doctoral advisory and dissertation committees; and engaging in service activities in the program, department, college, university, and professional/scholarly organizations.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

 

Minimum Qualifications:              

An earned doctorate from a nationally recognized and accredited institution in adult and lifelong learning, community college leadership, or closely related field conferred by the start of employment from an accredited institution of higher education

Commitment to an active research agenda related to adult and lifelong learning outside of the for-profit workplace, community college leadership, or adult basic education and literacy

Ability to teach graduate courses related to adult and lifelong learning, community colleges, or adult basic education and literacy

Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and collegiality

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional experience in adult education or community colleges

Graduate teaching experience

Online teaching and/or learning experience

Experience submitting and/or securing external funds

Research experience and/or knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Adult and lifelong learning outside of the for-profit workplace, Community college leadership, Adult literacy and basic education, Workforce development, Adult and lifelong learning policy, and Adult development
