TITLE: Engineering Aide - Summer
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTS TO: Director of Public Works
SECTION A
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
Primary duties include construction and design surveying, construction inspection and marking utility location. Additionally, employee may assist with other engineering activities.
SECTION B
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Knowledge of Auto-CAD.
Knowledge of ArcMAP is desirable
Survey experience is desirable.
Valid WI driver’s license and good driving record.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with co-workers and contractors.
SECTION C
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Full time student at a university or technical college in a related field of study.
SECTION D
TASKS ROUTINELY PERFORMED
Locate underground electric and fiber optic lines.
Assist in topographical surveys and construction staking.
Assist in the inspection and oversight of construction activities.
Miscellaneous office work such as scanning, copying and data entry.
Adheres to and operates within safety policies and practices.
Performs other related duties requiring similar skills and efforts.
SECTION E
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to work in close proximity to machinery and its moving parts.
Must be available to work day or night hours with minimal notice.
Must be able to occasionally sit 4 to 8 hours per day.
Must be able to occasionally stand 4 to 8 hours per day.
Must be able to work in outdoor and indoor environmental conditions from extreme heat, rain, and humidity.
