Chesterfield County Government is seeking a Stormwater Quality Compliance Technician to assist the Stormwater Compliance Specialist with activities relating to the coordination and implementation of the Storm Sewer Infrastructure Management program, part of the county's MS4 permit. Conduct evaluations of the storm sewer infrastructure in order to assess the condition of the storm sewer structures and provide data to aid in planning and implementing a maintenance strategy. Maintain field notes, databases and GIS storm sewer layers. Generate maps, review construction plans, retrieve information from in-house and online databases. Prepare reports for submittal to State and Federal regulatory agencies. Perform other work as required.

Successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in environmental science or a related field and one year of experience in the environmental field; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Strong PC skills and experience with geographic information systems (GIS) software and database management is required. Knowledge of Virginia stormwater permit requirements related to the implementation of the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit is preferred. Requires knowledge and capability to review, analyze, and understand stormwater infrastructure and water quality monitoring data. Must have the ability to conduct field activities in a variety of locations such as industrial areas, construction sites, commercial developments, subdivisions, roadways, over and around bodies of water, in and over steep slopes, uneven ground, thick brush, and heavily wooded areas. Work requires moderate to strenuous physical activity, under temperature extremes and adverse weather conditions. General knowledge of confined space entry procedures and hazardous situation avoidance desired. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
