Transportation Student Intern

Mark Thomas is hiring entry-level transportation-focused Engineering Interns in Irvine!  The role of an Intern is to assist engineering staff with entry-level tasks. These tasks may include contributing to the preparation of plans, drawings, exhibits, estimates, reports, gathering data, and/or performing technical calculations. Work activities may also include routine field tasks. These efforts are completed under the direct supervision of a licensed engineer or their respective designees.  Interns working during the school year work from 15-25 hours per week, and summer interns can work up to 40 hours per week.  Mark Thomas is a great place to start and grow your career - come join us!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides QA/QC support by following the appropriate procedures as outlined in the QA/QC Manual or as instructed by an engineer.
  • Provides support in reproduction of project materials such as exhibits, plan sheets, spreadsheets, drawings & details for meetings/submittals.
  • Participates in field activities and project visit sites to take measurements, collect data, takes photos or documents activities/observations.
  • References and understands design manuals, agency standards, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates a dedication to the organization and industry through participation in training activities and actively seeking opportunities to contribute to the achievement of Mark Thomas goals.
  • Demonstrates a growing knowledge of current engineering software.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrolled in a relevant field of study leading to a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • EIT certification preferred, but not required.
  • Prior relevant work experience is a plus.
  • Familiar with MS Office, Auto CAD, Civil 3D, Micro-Station experience preferred.
  • Possesses strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time to maximize efficiency.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Possesses a willingness to learn.
