Wilderness Survival Skills Counselor
Activity Responsibilities
Direct Supervisor: Program Director
- During activity days, teach Survival Skills activity to campers 7-15 years old
- Develop a curriculum that creates a fun, engaging, and educational wilderness program for campers
- Responsible for the proper care and storage of activity equipment
Bunk Responsibilities
Direct Supervisor: Unit Leader
- Create cohesive bunk unity
- Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the bunk
- Provide opportunities for bunk and individual discussions
- Supervise campers’ health needs and eating habits
- Know the whereabouts and activities of your bunk’s campers at all times
- Be with bunk at all times when on duty at night
General Responsibilities
- Identify and meet campers’ needs
- Be a role model to campers and other staff (i.e. living the Micah philosophy, cleanliness, punctuality, sharing clean-up and chores, and sportsmanship)
- Guide campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities
- Abide by all policies set forth in the Camp Micah staff handbook
- Supervise and/or help organize bunk, unit, and all camp activities and special events (some activity leaders will be assigned to different bunks or units other than their own when needed)
- Submit all required reports and paperwork on time
- Be responsible for any other duties as may be required by the camp administration
WFA Certification preferred, but not required
Food, laundry, and housing provided
Potential for Internship credit
