Founded as a social enterprise in Hong Kong in 2023, we are a growing digital literacy and AI ethics platform based in Asia developing proprietary educational offerings for Gens Z and A around digital well-being, mental health, social-emotional intelligence, and skills for an AI age. We’re seeking a young, ambitious, and growth-oriented Engineering Lead to join our founding team. This is a unique opportunity for someone eager to take ownership, shape our technology, and grow into a future CTO or similar executive leadership role. You’ll lead the development of our core systems, own infrastructure and architectural decisions, and build a small, high-performing engineering team. This is a hands-on leadership role with real ownership and strategic influence.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement scalable, cloud-native backend infrastructure
  • Design and manage real-time WebSocket-based systems
  • Translate product vision into robust, maintainable technical solutions
  • Lead and grow a small engineering team
  • Define and manage a sprint-based Kanban workflow
  • Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
  • Deploy and operate services on AWS and/or GCP
  • Integrate and manage LLM/ML systems using tools like Langchain and Pydantic
  • Ensure reliability, performance, and security across systems
  • Implement basic SEO and Google Tag Manager integrations

 

Core Requirements

  • Strong backend engineering experience with Python (important), Node.js and JavaScript (important), Ruby (familiarity helpful)
  • Experience designing and scaling real-time systems using WebSockets
  • Comfortable working with SQL, NoSQL, and in-memory databases (e.g. Redis)
  • Proven ability to build and manage cloud-native infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD, GitHub workflows, and DevOps fundamentals
  • Experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform
  • Familiarity with machine learning, LLMs, and related frameworks
  • Strong technical leadership with experience making architectural decisions that balance immediate needs with long-term growth
  • Must be based in or able to work effectively within an Asian time zone

 

Nice to Have

  • Background in edtech, AI agents, or adaptive learning systems
  • Experience hiring and managing small engineering teams
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, SEO best practices, and event tagging
  • Exposure to agent-based architectures or event-driven systems
