JPMorganChase

Summer Analyst

June - August 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The 9 week internship was an incredible opportunity to explore my interest in Treasury Services within one of the top firms in the country. The internship was very hands-on and I had the chance to network within the bank and secure a full time position after graduation.

What I wish was different

I wish it had started earlier and not interfered with my preseason schedule.

Advice

Network with a purpose, take lots of notes and don't be afraid to ask questions.

What I liked

The networking opportunities at Jpmorgan are really cool. Everyone is willing to share their experience with you and offer advice.

What I wish was different

The actual internship wasn’t all that exciting. My managers realized I like sifting through data and making excel document. So they changed my internship for me.

Advice

Be open minded and network within the company. See what people are doing who had your internship 4 years ago.

The people, the networking opportunities were abundant. It's a nice program in that they have lots of events (around 1 a week). These were senior speaker events or fun intern-bonding events.

What I wish was different

The work was very cyclical. Same thing every month.

Advice

Try to network ahead of time with people there so you have more say over which division you're placed in.

Global Finance & Business Management Summer Analyst

July - August 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I loved the culture at the firm. They operate in a collaborative environment where everyone truly wants to see you win. Managers are kind but no-nonsense as well, and they expect the best from you and will help you improve. Even within my team, there was not once a sense of competition for a job, as we all wanted the best out of each other and helped each other improve. This led to us all getting full time offers.

What I wish was different

It would have been a different and far more authentic experience had it been in person, so I wish that had been different. Of course, the circumstances of the times did not allow for that.

Advice

Work as hard as you can and show people that you are doing so. There is nothing wrong with letting decision makers know what you have accomplished if you really are putting that work in. Also, do not be afraid of mistakes. It is not end all be all. learn from them and execute better in the future, but do not fear them.

Software Engineering Intern

June - August 2018 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

Location and the people. Chicago is an awesome city with too much to do in a single summer. I was at Chase Tower, which is in the heart of the Loop, a perfect spot for whatever food you might have wanted or just walking around to explore some of the busiest part of the city. The team I was on was comprised of smart, helpful individuals that were also just fun to be around.

What I wish was different

I wish the Technology Analyst Program (now Software Engineering Program) had provided more unique experiences for the intern class. There were a few events throughout the summer, but I felt like there was an opportunity for more events or just more exciting events given the location.

Advice

The best advise I can give which applies to any internship is to not be afraid to ask questions. My team was filled with smart people who could each offer some useful information for the benefit of my project, all I had to do was ask.

I loved how much hands on experience I gained through many challenging projects. I was trusted with the autonomy to get the work done and also got to help hundreds of people!
